Today we’re meeting Austin Bradford, the Service Manager at BYD Exeter. We’re finding out all about his favourite part of the job, first car, and current favourite BYD model.
Where are you from?
Southend-on-Sea.
How long have you been working at BYD South West?
I’ve been back for 11 months, but I was with City West Country for ten years before that.
What is your favourite BYD model?
Seal Excellence, just a fantastic car.
Most memorable day at work?
Probably back when I employed my first member of staff at BYD, I remember thinking ‘we can start to get going now’, and it felt like a marker to me.
Favourite part of the job?
Definitely the people, we are in a great place with the team here. Everyday brings it’s own challenges but I know we can overcome anything with the hard work and support of the team.
What’s your favourite animal?
Shoebill Stork.
Where is your favourite place to visit in the South West?
There are so many, but I really like Four Firs because it is so close and there is a nice mix of woodland and open ground.
What’s your go-to song or radio station to listen to in the car?
I listen to Phonic FM when I’m driving locally, it’s a very eclectic mix of music.
How many attempts did it take you to pass your driving test?
Two.
What was your first car?
Mk1 Ford Fiesta Super Sport. In the words of my Foreman, it was as rusty as a handcart.
What’s your favourite film?
Bladerunner.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
I’d really like to spend some time in Japan.
What would be your karaoke song?
I’m tone deaf, I wouldn’t inflict my singing on anyone.
Tipple of choice?
Arbelour A’Bunadh.
First concert you ever went to?
It was a punk band called The Skabz.
What are you most looking forward to?
Learning more in my role and pushing on with the team at Hennock Road for a successful year.
