Far from standard, it represents a game-changing evolution in intelligent plug-in hybrid technology. This setup delivers a combined range of up to 699 miles, powered by a 26.6 kWh battery. The battery provides up to 78 miles of all electric range.

On the other hand, the MG HS features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with a plug-in hybrid system. The 24.7 kWh battery offers an all-electric range of 75 miles, falling just short of the BYD SEAL U DM-i.

Both vehicles are designed to offer impressive fuel efficiency. The BYD Seal U DM-i, with its plug-in hybrid technology, allows for extended electric-only driving, reducing fuel consumption significantly. The MG HS has a slightly larger trunk capacity of 507 litres compared to the BYD SEAL U DM-i’s 425 litres, offering slightly more cargo space. With the seats down, the MG HS offers 1,484 litres, while the SEAL U DM-i offers 1,440.

Technology and features

Both vehicles come with a range of modern features, including advanced infotainment systems, connectivity options, and driver assistance technologies. The BYD SEAL U DM-i boasts a sleek and user-friendly interface, while the MG HS offers a comprehensive suite of tech features to enhance the driving experience.

The SEAL U DM-i features a 15.6 inch rotatable screen, with a 12.3 inch LCD instrument panel behind the steering wheel. Alternatively, the MG HS features two 12.3 inch screens integrated into the dashboard.

Both models offer advanced driver assistance systems that include safety features such as lane keep assist, lane departure warning system, and adaptive cruise control.
