SEAL U DM-i battery size
Charging time
Most of the time you charge will be to top up your existing charge, rather than taking a flat battery all the way to 100%. To get from 30% to 80% of battery, it will take just 35 minutes using the car’s 18 kW DC rapid charging feature.
Many manufacturers will generally recommend to keep your EV charged between 20% and 80%, as the first and last 20% to top up to 100% takes a longer time and uses more energy from your battery. However, BYD’s Blade Battery is a bit different; you can charge all the way up to 100 with no problems. We also recommend that you fully charge from a low battery once every three to six months.
Charging port
The charging port is located on the rear passenger side of the car, and it’s fitted with a Type 2 charging port.
BYD SEAL U DM-i vehicle-to-load (VTOL)
Vehicle-to-load technology comes as standard on the SEAL U DM-i. For those who aren’t aware, the VTOL feature essentially turns your car into a mobile power bank, allowing you to power and charge most everyday items. For example, if you were to go camping for the weekend, you could power your kettle and cooking appliances and keep all your devices fully charged.
You get a maximum output power of 3.3kW AC so you can power all kinds of household appliances. We have used VTOL to power an Xbox in our showroom, a DJ set at one of our events, Christmas lights during the festive period, and a coffee machine, to name a few!
