Since its release in the UK, the BYD SEAL has lived up to its reputation as the brand’s all-electric sporty saloon. While we tend to look at the exterior highlights and powertrain technology of cars like this, we rarely focus on the interior. We’re showing you how the BYD SEAL’s interior exudes luxury and comfort, the perfect way to complement a vehicle with this power.
High-quality materials
The cabin features a combination of leather, tactile suede, and ambient lighting with a wide variety of colour choices, so you can personalise the luxury that comes as standard in the BYD SEAL. All the major touchpoints meet the high standards set out by the brand, such as the crystal-effect gear selector, elegant stitching, and sleek steering wheel.
Options like having a heated steering wheel, memory seat position, and heated and ventilated seats come as standard. You can choose your own level of luxury, making every drive a dream.
Infotainment and screens
The centrepiece is a large touchscreen that includes BYD’s unique feature of being able to rotate 90° to landscape or portrait, depending on your preference. The 15.6-inch display runs on the same speedy processor as the other BYD models, making it super responsive to your inputs. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work seamlessly with the infotainment screen, and everything is easy to find and navigate.
The BYD SEAL also features a smaller static screen set behind the steering wheel with your driving information, and the heads up display on the Excellence trim is a welcome feature to keep you from glancing away from the road for directions or to check your speed.
The two wireless charging trays in the centre console are also much appreciated, making device charging an absolute breeze.
Comfort and space
The panoramic roof’s ability to bring extra light into the cabin makes the BYD SEAL feel roomy and open, even when you’re in the rear. Despite being a saloon, there’s comfortably room for three passengers in the back, with ample legroom and headroom.
The rear seats feel as plush and suave as in the front, meaning luxury is a given all around. In terms of storage, the boot offers 400 litres of space, with an additional 53 litres in the front trunk.
Additional features
The standard sound system is a 12-speaker system from Danish hi-fi brand Dynaudio, and it provides plenty of power and quality. This is particularly appreciated when using the karaoke feature of the car!
The front seats are moved electronically, and everything can be controlled using the centre rotating touchscreen display. If you prefer, you can go completely hands-free by saying ‘Hi BYD’, asking the SEAL’s voice command assistant to carry out your requests, from opening the window to changing the colour of the ambient lighting.
