Since its entry to the UK market in 2023, BYD has been steadily growing, and its performance in 2024 earned it the accolade ‘the UK’s fastest growing brand’. In 2025, BYD have broken their sales record and overtaken Tesla for the first time in Britain.
Last year, BYD sold over 8,700 units, an incredible feat for a brand that had been in the competitive automotive market for less than a year.
In the first quarter of 2025 alone, BYD overtook their last year’s sales by selling over 9,200 units, promising an accelerating performance for the future. Tesla’s reduction in performance in the market coupled with the growing popularity of BYD has led to BYD officially overtaking the brand’s sales figures for the first time in Britain.
BYD South West opened their flagship showroom in Exeter in 2023, the success of which allowed for the swift opening of BYD Plymouth, BYD Taunton, and BYD Truro in 2024, allowing for dedicated service across all points of the South West. The start of 2025 saw BYD Plymouth moving to a bigger showroom to continue boosting their success, with future growth for BYD South West in the works.
