BYD ATTO 2 charging guide

The BYD ATTO 2 has been designed to make electric driving simple, flexible, and easy to fit around everyday life. Whether you’re charging at home overnight, topping up while shopping, or using ultra‑rapid chargers on a longer journey, the ATTO 2 offers a range of charging options to suit how you drive.

In this guide, we’ll explain how the BYD ATTO 2 charges, how long it takes, and what you can expect when charging at home or on the public network.

BYD ATTO 2 battery size

The BYD ATTO 2 is available with two Blade Battery options, depending on trim level. The Boost models feature a 51.1kWh Blade Battery, offering up to 214 miles WLTP combined range, or up to 302 miles in city driving. The Comfort models are fitted with a larger 64.8kWh Blade Battery, delivering up to 267 miles WLTP combined range.

Both batteries use BYD’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery technology, designed to prioritise safety, long‑term durability and stable performance over the life of the vehicle.

Charging times

Charging times for the BYD ATTO 2 vary depending on battery size and the type of charger used. Using a 7kW home charger, a full charge typically takes just over seven hours, making overnight charging ideal. Both battery sizes support up to 11kW AC charging, although most UK home chargers operate at 7kW.

Boost (51.1kWh) models support up to 82kW DC charging, allowing a 30–80% charge in 29 minutes. Comfort (64.8kWh) models support up to 155kW DC charging, reducing a 30–80% charge to as little as 19 minutes. This makes the ATTO 2 well suited to longer journeys, with quick top‑ups achievable during short rest stops.

BYD ATTO 2 charging port

Charging port

The BYD ATTO 2 uses UK and European standard charging connections, ensuring broad compatibility with public and home charging infrastructure. It supports Type 2 and DC rapid charging. Thanks to these standard connectors, the ATTO 2 can use the vast majority of UK public charge points, including motorway rapid and ultra‑rapid chargers, as well as destination chargers found in supermarkets, car parks, and town centres

Safe charging practices

To keep charging safe, efficient and reliable, BYD recommends following a few best‑practice guidelines:

  • Home chargers are the safest and most efficient way to charge regularly
  • 3‑pin domestic sockets can be used occasionally, but are best reserved for emergency or short‑term use due to slower charging speeds
  • Always use cables and chargers that meet UK safety standards and ensure public cables are securely connected before leaving the vehicle.

Following these simple steps helps maintain battery performance and ensures safe, everyday charging.

Vehicle to load (VtoL)

The BYD ATTO 2 comes equipped with Vehicle‑to‑Load (VtoL) functionality as standard. VtoL allows you to use the car’s battery to power external electrical devices, such as camping or outdoor equipment, small appliances, and tools or leisure accessories. Using a compatible adapter, the ATTO 2 can act as a mobile power source, which is a practical feature for weekends away, outdoor lifestyles, or everyday convenience.
