What is BYD Super DM Technology?
At the core of BYD Super DM technology is an electric-based hybrid system.
Unlike traditional hybrids that rely heavily on the internal combustion engine, the Super DM system prioritises electric power.
It uses a high-power motor drive and a large-capacity power battery as its primary power source, with the engine providing assistance only when necessary.
This approach ensures that the vehicle always operates in the most efficient mode possible, adapting seamlessly to various driving conditions.
The key components of BYD Super DM Technology
The BYD Super DM technology is built around three core components:
1. Electric Hybrid System (EHS)
This system is the heart of the Super DM technology, ensuring that the vehicle can operate primarily on electric power.
2. Xiaoyun 1.5L/1.5T Hybrid Engine
This engine provides the necessary support when the battery’s state of charge (SOC) is low, ensuring that the vehicle can continue to operate efficiently.
3. BYD Blade Battery
Known for its high capacity and safety, the Blade Battery ensures that the vehicle has a substantial electric range and can handle the demands of hybrid operation.
BYD's Super DM Power Supply Modes
The BYD Super DM system offers three distinct power supply modes to cater to different driving needs:
Pure EV mode
Ideal for city driving, this mode ensures a quiet and comfortable ride with fast, responsive acceleration. The vehicle operates entirely on electric power, with regenerative braking to increase range.
HEV Series Mode
This mode is ideal when you want to extend your range. When the battery’s SOC is low, the engine engages to extend the range. The Xiaoyun engine acts as a generator, charging the battery while the wheels are driven by the electric motor.
HEV Parallel Mode
This mode combines the power of both the engine and the electric motor for maximum performance, making it suitable for situations that require extra power.
