With electric vehicle purchases firmly increasing as we head towards 2035, the infrastructure of electric car charging facilities is rapidly growing.
With many people new to the electric vehicle experience, it can feel daunting to think about the changes in your driving habits. For example, car journeys will require more detailed planning, and figuring out what works for you and your lifestyle can take some time.
However, we’re here to put your mind at ease and answer the obvious questions based around charging your electric vehicle.
How to charge
Public charging
For a worry-free lifestyle, the smart integrated charging ecosystem allows you to choose the charging solution that suits you best, whether that’s charging on your trip, at your destination, or at home.
Charge your smart from 10 to 80% in under 30 minutes with D super charging (150kW) or in under three hours with AC charging (22kW).
The smart #1 comes with two seamless charging options: at home, or on the go. When you’re en-route, the large smart charge@street public charging networking always provides you with a charging point nearby, all across Europe.
The Hello smart App can use the in-car navigation to guide you to nearby charging points when you need them, as well as reveal important charging station information including opening hours, availability, type of connector, location, and price.
Home charging
Electric car charging at home is made super-simple thanks to the superior EV smart charge@home Wallbox charging system powered by ABB E-mobility. With high-value quality, futureproof flexibility, and advanced safety and protection – smart charge@home is a seamlessly convenient addition to your home.
Both home charger types are equipped with Type 2 cable and/or socket and built-in safety features, such as overcurrent, ground fault, surge protection, and protective earth continuity monitoring. The smart charge@home also integrates with the Hello smart App, with convenient authentication methods.
The charging options include: 1-Phase 7.4kW charger with charging speed in less than 9 hours (10-80%), and 3-Phase 22kW charger with charging speed in less than 3 hours (10-80%).
South West charging points
There are now many charging points across the South West, from supermarkets to service stations, roadside charging and car parks.
As well as the charge@street parking app, ZapMap also provides a UK-wide map of electric car charging points. You can search and filter for locations, as well as plan your journey with the smart route planner.
ZapMap shows the location addresses, what charging devices are available, what network the chargers are on, pricing, and the facilities that are accessible.
