Today, we’re comparing the ORA 03 with a competitor: the notorious Fiat 500 electric. Despite similarities in design and size, there are a few features that set the models apart. Here’s the ORA 03 vs Fiat 500e.
Design
The ORA 03 is known for its retro-futuristic design, both interior and exterior, making it the perfect competitor for the Fiat 500. It comes in a wider range of unique colour palettes for maximum individuality.
The Fiat 500 has always been known for its iconic retro deign, and this hasn’t changed with the electric version. It retains the classic look that fans of the brand admire, while incorporating some modern touches for style and comfort.
Performance
The ORA 03 features a 45.4kWh usable capacity battery, providing an official range of 193 miles between charges. It’s powered by a 170bhp electric motor driving the front wheels, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds.
The Fiat 500 Electric comes with a maximum 42kWh battery with an official range of 199 miles, with a more affordable version with a 24kWh battery offering up to 115 miles. The smaller battery offers a 0-62mph of 9.5 seconds, decreasing to 8 seconds for the larger battery. Built for city driving, the Fiat 500 has a small turning circle and light steering. It’s not as smooth on the motorway however, and struggles at higher speeds.
Features
The ORA 03 has been steadily expanding on its awards, most notably for its excellent safety rating and long warranty. It features a high-tech infotainment system and advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and rear-view camera to name a few. The one thing it lacks is Apple CarPlay, although this is incoming.
Similarly, the Fiat 500 has an ergonomic interior that feels solidly built and safe. You can connect your phone via USB and pop your phone in the designated dashboard cradle, which is alongside the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. You’ll need to upgrade the trim level to include the 10.25-inch screen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.
Sustainability
The ORA 03 has been awarded not one, but two awards by Green NCAP, after being crowned the winner in the Small Family Car and Full Electric Car categories.
The Fiat 500 achieved a perfect 10/10 score by Green NCAP on the Energy Efficient Index, cementing its position as one of the most eco-friendly electric cars in the market.
