Meet BYD Plymouth's Jacob Muldoon
Jacob hasn’t always been in the automotive industry and he has dipped his toes in a few different career paths.
From the age of 16 he has worked in retail as well as various bars and clubs on the Barbican. He then did a Level 2 and 3 apprenticeship in customer service at Toyota.
Jacob decided to attempt a law degree at the University of Plymouth but decided it wasn’t for him after two years of studying. He was also a beauty school dropout!
He then joined Mercedes-Benz South West in June 2022 and is now working at BYD Plymouth since it opened in August 2024.

I am finding working for BYD fantastic!
Getting to know the brand and the company goals for the BYD is very exciting to be a part of.
I am most looking forward to seeing the new SEALION 07 in 2025 and all the other new models BYD bring to the range!

1. Where are you from?
Born and Bred Janner (Plymouth).
2. What’s your ultimate comfort food?
Sticky Toffee Pudding.
3. What did you want to be when you were younger?
I wanted to be either a lawyer or a film critic.
4. Describe your team in three words.
Brilliant, funny, driven!
5. What was your first car?
2004 plate Renault Clio which I put a Sony stereo in it and thought it was the business!
6. What's the best advice you've been given?
“If you are not changing, you are choosing”
7. What do you do in your spare time?
I run a lot; I am doing my first marathon in April 2025 and competing in my first Hyrox January 2025.
8. Tipple of choice?
Asahi – the best beer in the world!
9. What's your favourite animal?
Probably a lion.
10. If you could swap lives with someone, who would you choose?
If I could swap lives with someone it would probably be Ruben Amorim the new Manchester United manager so I could have a go at managing the best team in the world.
