What’s the difference between the PURE+ and PRO+ trim levels?
Formerly the Funky Cat, the GWM ORA 03 is definitely quirky in many aspects.
Having clearly taken inspiration from several retro cars over the last two decades, the GWM ORA 03 is a car that offers a bit of familiarity.
So let’s dive into this review, and find out what’s the difference between the PURE+ and PRO+ trim levels.
Model details
The GWM ORA 03 has two trim levels on offer, the base PURE+ variant and the higher-spec PRO+.
Interestingly, the battery in the two variants are different. The PURE+ adopts a lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) with a capacity of 48kWh, while the PRO+’s battery is made from ternary lithium (NCM) with a capacity of 63kWh.
Both variants come with 18 inch alloy wheels, an electronic parking brake, and 360 degree surround cameras.
Colours include: Starry Black, Nebula Green, Aurora Green, Aurora Green and Moonlight White, Mars Red and Starry Black, Aurora Green and Starry Black, Moonlight White and Starry Black.
There’s also a range of colour combinations to choose from depending on the trim level you opt for. This full list can be found here.
Design
Offering the perfect blend of style and substance, the exterior of the ORA 03 has a distinctive retro design, and mostly features clean, round shapes but there are a few quirky details here and there.
The alloys are very 90s style, there are little hexagons on the ‘cheeks’ of the car, and there’s a high light bar on the rear. The front of the car gives off a MINI feel due to the big round lights.
It has been designed to be your new favourite space, so there’s plenty of creature comforts that come as standard, like a leather steering wheel, an electric 6-way driver seat and electric 4-way front passenger seat.
You’ll also find quilted leatherette seats and there’s a choice of bright colour schemes for the interior depending on which colour exterior you choose.
You also get chrome toggle switches which offer a classy look.
The PRO+ comes with privacy glass in the rear, heated front seats, ventilated front seats and even massage seats which is a lovely touch. Plus you get a sliding panoramic sunroof which is ideal in summer.
Range and charging
Most of the differences between the two ORA 03 variants is to do with range and charging.
The ORA 03 PURE+ has a claimed range of up to 193 miles which is enough to get most people where they need to be without having to plug in on the way.
When using a typical 6.6kW home charger, it’ll take just five hours and 24 mins to charge up from 15-80%. A rapid 100kW DC charger will take just 42 mins and 30 seconds which is great if you need to plug in while out and about.
GWM ORA claims the top of the spec PURE+ variant offers up to 260 miles of range which is pretty decent and will be great if you like road tripping on the weekends.
A rapid charger will charge the car up from 15-80% in just 48 mins or if you’re charging at home, it takes seven hours and 12 mins which means you can plug in overnight and wake up to a charged car in the morning!
Performance
The entry-level PURE+ can accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds, while the PRO+ can do it in 8.2 seconds which really isn’t much of a difference to notice when driving and they’re quick enough for most situations.
Both models have a top speed of 99mph (where the law permits).
The ORA 03 is great for driving around town, or if you live in the countryside, it tackles windy roads well enough too.
Technology and safety features
Both variants come with a 10.25 inch infotainment display and a 10.25 inch driver information cluster, wireless phone charging, FM/DAB radio, and a Sat Nav.
There’s also a six-speaker sound system in both, auxiliary power outlet, and USB in the front and the rear. You can also use the Hello Ora function which is perfect if you struggle to navigate the technology while driving.
For driving assistance, you get a reversing camera; rear parking sensors; uphill assist; auto fold, electrically adjusted and heated door mirrors; also automatic LED headlights with high beam assist.
The GWM ORA 03 has a five-star EURO NCAP safety rating.
The PURE+ is packed with a large range of safety features such as adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and lane keep assist.
There are also ISOFIX mounts in the rear, so it would make a great car if you have little ones too.
And the PRO+ doesn’t come with anything extra either when it comes to safety. So you’d be fine with the base variant if you solely value safety and technology.
Space and practicality
Head and leg room in both the front and the rear is impressive, so you shouldn’t feel cramped at all. There’s also lots of storage cubbies and cup holders dotted around the interior to avoid clutter.
The boot has a capacity of 228 litres which is definitely on the smaller side, but it should be enough to store a few carry-on suitcases, your pram, or your weekly shop!
The rear seats also fold down in a 60:40 split in both variants, so if you’ve got more cargo than you do people, you can extend your boot space when needed.
Price
Prices for the PURE+ trim start from £31,995 and prices for the PRO+ are from £34,995.
We have a range of flexible finance options to help finance your GWM ORA, including Personal Contract Purchase (PCP), Personal Contract Hire (PCH), Hire Purchase, and Business Contract Hire.
Verdict
The GWM ORA 03 PURE+ and PRO+ trim levels cater to different preferences and priorities, allowing consumers to choose the variant that best aligns with their needs and budget.
While the PURE+ offers a practical and efficient electric vehicle option, the PRO+ elevates the driving experience with enhanced luxury, technology, and performance features.
But ultimately, whether you opt for the PURE+ or PRO+, you can expect a reliable and eco-friendly vehicle
